214 LAFAYETTE PROJECT
The 214 Lafayette Project is public art initiative that invites international artists to create original work at highly visible and trafficked intersections in New York City and Los Angeles. The project began very naturally with anonymous artists painting, tagging, and repainting the facade of 214 Lafayette Street, a commercial and residential building located in Soho, one of the few places remaining in New York City where artists were encouraged to leave their mark.
The community loved the results so much that we decided to formalize this project and invite prominent artists to create a unique piece and identity for the facade. Some of the artists we commissioned were Kenny Scharf, Cleon Peterson, Okuda San Miguel, among others. The project is currently expanding to include locations in other cities across the United States and abroad.
